Experienced Healthcare Leader Joins the Executive Team
CAREier, the critical healthcare messaging innovator, today named Dr. Michael Hunt chief medical information officer (CMIO). In his new position, Dr. Hunt will be responsible for strategic product planning, informatics data mining, quality reporting and customer engagement.
Dr. Hunt combines an extensive background in medical informatics with experience as a practicing physician, bringing highly specialized expertise to the company. He is highly skilled at connecting clinical, analytical, technological and consumer resources to enhance the relationships among patients and all members of the healthcare system.
Most recently, as senior vice president of clinical operations at Navvis, a national population health management corporation, Dr. Hunt led vision, strategy, and execution for all facets of clinical operations. He launched information platforms that enabled patients to engage with coordinated team-based care and guided the implementation and administration of clinically integrated networks.
As CEO and president of St. Vincent’s Health Partners, Inc., Dr. Hunt introduced a series of improvements that resulted in substantial revenue growth and enabled a major investment in IT infrastructure. At St. Vincent’s, he also led configuration of the information platform and developed the team to operationalize medical management services for attributed populations in new models of reimbursement.
During his career, Dr. Hunt also has held IT- and operations-related leadership positions at St. Vincents Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, and Mercy Health System in St. Louis, MO.
“Dr. Hunt brings specialized expertise that further strengthens the CAREier leadership team and clearly positions us for hyper-growth,” comments Ryan Bass, CAREier Founder and CEO. “His strong background in healthcare informatics and operations combined with real-world experience as a physician adds important new dimension to the company. Dr. Hunt’s talents and expertise have contributed significantly to the success of a wide range of healthcare organizations and we are proud to have him as CMIO.”
“I am excited to join a company striving to elevate the standard of patient care by eliminating missing links and accurately connecting all stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem,” comments Dr. Hunt. “Today, patients receive disparate and uncoordinated communications from diverse healthcare entities without a method to ensure the accuracy of patient contact information. CAREier’s mission is to implement a modern, consistently updated digital system of electronic communications to close important gaps and facilitate each entity’s ability to connect with and focus on each patient safely throughout the continuum. I am excited about playing a major role in that effort.”
No one should be harmed or die because of a medical intervention meant to save their life. Yet, every year thousands of people suffer needlessly due to a failure to communicate critical patient information across the entire healthcare ecosystem. A case in point is those who miss mission-critical messages about medical devices implanted in their own bodies. Hospitals, providers, device manufacturers and many others, as well as patients themselves, all must contribute to deliver the message.
CAREier’s mission and passion is facilitating the delivery of critical healthcare messages. By eliminating the archaic, manual processes in place today, CAREier closes a significant communications gap and supports comprehensive information exchange and collaboration among all healthcare constituents, improving patient safety and saving lives. CAREier leverages leading edge technology, proven processes, and an innovative perspective to create an ultra-reliable, modern communications system achieving one seemingly simple but challenging goal: immediate, reliable delivery of mission-critical healthcare messaging to enhance patient safety, patient care and better patient outcomes.
