CAREier’s Addition of Swindells a Marker of Global Intent
CAREier today named internationally recognized healthcare expert Matthew Swindells to its advisory board. Swindells possesses decades of global healthcare experience and is a recognized healthcare IT and population health visionary. His addition will help guide CAREier’s commercial launch and rapid expansion into markets across the globe. Swindells brings to CAREier a distinguished background, combining experience in government, commercial, provider and consulting arenas.
“Drawing on his broad-based perspective, Matthew will be invaluable in helping CAREier navigate the nuances of healthcare across a broad range of settings and continents,” says Ryan Bass, CAREier Chairman and CEO. “At the same time, his deep experience leveraging IT to transform the administration and delivery of care will make him a major asset to our team.”
Currently, as head of MJS Healthcare Consulting, Matthew Swindells provides strategic advice on designing, delivering and using disruptive technology to improve healthcare services for governments, public and private sector organizations around the world.
Prior to this, he served as deputy chief executive of NHS England, where he drove modernization and performance improvement across the organization through the development of transformative information and IT strategies as well as implemented transitions to population health and innovative clinical programs.
He also has served as senior vice president for Cerner, the world’s largest dedicated healthcare IT company, leading business across 21 countries and working with health systems worldwide.
Swindells launched his career in the NHS where he held positions that included chief information officer, chief operating officer and chief executive of three major NHS hospitals. He also provided health policy advice to Tony Blair’s UK government as the head of the health advisory team in the Cabinet Office, and as policy adviser to the Secretary of State for Health.
“I am extremely excited to join the advisory board at a groundbreaking firm like CAREier,” notes Swindells. “CAREier addresses a major longstanding and overlooked problem in healthcare. The ability to communicate important patient information effectively and reliably across the entire healthcare ecosystem is crucial to quality of care. CAREier’s dedication to replacing dated manual processes with modern digital and IT solutions is an idea whose time is long overdue. I look forward to joining with them to revolutionize key aspects of healthcare.”
“As an internationally recognized expert in both healthcare information technology and population health, Matthew Swindells will provide superb direction to support clients, partners, and patients in a global capacity,” comments Ryan Bass. “The addition of Professor Swindells to our advisory board is a global statement of CAREier’s revolutionary approach to healthcare as it relates to medical devices.”
No one should be harmed or die because of a medical intervention meant to save their life. Yet, every year thousands of people suffer needlessly due to a failure to communicate critical patient information across the entire healthcare ecosystem. A case in point is those who miss mission-critical messages about medical devices implanted in their own bodies. Hospitals, providers, device manufacturers and many others, as well as patients themselves all must contribute to deliver the message.
CAREier’s mission and passion is facilitating the delivery of critical healthcare messages. By eliminating the archaic, manual processes in place today, CAREier closes a significant communications gap and supports comprehensive information exchange and collaboration among all healthcare constituents, improving patient safety and saving lives. CAREier leverages leading edge technology, proven processes, and an innovative perspective to create an ultra-reliable, modern communications system achieving one seemingly simple but challenging goal: immediate, reliable delivery of mission-critical healthcare messaging to enhance patient safety, patient care and better patient outcomes.
