CAREier Prioritizes Cybersecurity of Healthcare Data

CAREier, the critical healthcare messaging innovator, today announced an agreement with Apraciti, LLC (Apraciti), a world-class cybersecurity consulting and services organization, to provide Cybersecurity capabilities for all aspects of CAREier’s business. Under this agreement, Apraciti will be responsible for performing the duties of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Chief Product Security Officer (CPSO), providing cybersecurity leadership over the program strategy, development, management, and governance.

Apraciti specializes in working with medical device manufacturers and helps organizations meet regulatory guidance by designing and implementing cybersecurity strategies, performing threat modeling, security engineering and documentation for medical products, and integrating pre and post market cybersecurity requirements with quality management systems.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to work with such a groundbreaking company as CAREier. This concept is not only unique but has the potential to help save lives. I have seen firsthand how challenging patient communication is and the potential impact it can cause on both the physical and mental health of a patient. From the first discussion with Ryan, we were sold on the mission and knew it was something Apraciti needed to be part of. We’re looking forward to the endless possibilities of this innovative communications platform, and ensuring it is architected and managed as securely as possible,” commented Colin Morgan, Apraciti Managing Director.

Apraciti, is led by Colin Morgan, a key thought leader in the healthcare cybersecurity industry, with decades of experience in technology and cybersecurity. As a member of the Healthcare Sector Coordinating Council, he is co-author of the Medical Device and Health IT Joint Security Plan, a voluntary framework for medical device cybersecurity released in 2019 and co-chair for the future legacy sub-working-group focused on strategies around preventing medical devices from becoming legacy the moment they are commercialized. He is also an expert trainer and facilitator for the US FDA driven, Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) Medical Device & Diagnostic Threat Modeling Bootcamp training program.

Previously, Colin founded, developed, and led an industry leading Product Security Program at one of the largest healthcare companies in the world. As global leader and Head of Product Security, he led a skilled team that developed and implemented cybersecurity and quality processes, conducted cybersecurity engineering for medical devices, performed security testing, and managed security vulnerabilities with security researchers.

During his career, Colin has also held positions as a Network & Security Engineer at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and as a Systems Security Engineering contractor for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations’ (NOAA) climate research supercomputing program.
“When looking for the right person to lead our cybersecurity, we wanted a global leader with broad practical and technical expertise as well as deep knowledge of the unique requirements of healthcare and medical devices. We found that in Apraciti and are thrilled to have them join the CAREier team,” comments Ryan Bass, CAREier Chairman and CEO.

About CAREier
No one should be harmed or die because of a medical intervention meant to save their life. Yet, every year thousands of people suffer needlessly due to a failure to communicate critical patient information across the entire healthcare ecosystem. A case in point is those who miss mission-critical messages about medical devices implanted in their own bodies. Hospitals, providers, device manufacturers and many others, as well as patients themselves all must contribute to deliver the message.

CAREier’s mission and passion is facilitating the delivery of critical healthcare messages. By eliminating the archaic, manual processes in place today, CAREier closes a significant communications gap and supports comprehensive information exchange and collaboration among all healthcare constituents, improving patient safety and saving lives. CAREier leverages leading edge technology, proven processes, and an innovative perspective to create an ultra-reliable, modern communications system achieving one seemingly simple but challenging goal: immediate, reliable delivery of mission-critical healthcare messaging to enhance patient safety, patient care and better patient outcomes.
